The Michigander is a weekly email newsletter for people who love Ann Arbor. Every Monday, we cover the local news, food, events, and community stories that make this town worth living in.

We started because Ann Arbor deserves a newsletter that actually sounds like Ann Arbor. Not a news aggregator. Not a press release rewriter. A well-connected, smart friend who somehow knows everything happening in town.

Our Promise

Every sentence passes what we call the Townie Test: if it could work in any other city's newsletter, we rewrite it. We use real names, specific addresses, and the kind of details that make you feel like you're sitting at Zingerman's overhearing the best gossip in town.

What We Cover

Food & drink (always #1), development, local business, events, Michigan sports, UMich campus news, real estate, and community stories. We stay within a strict 10-mile radius of downtown Ann Arbor — unless it's a statewide story that makes us proud to be Michiganders.

What We Don't Do

Politics. Hot takes. Fear-based headlines. National news. Clickbait. We're here to make you feel proud of Ann Arbor and excited about what's happening. That's it.
